There are just 25 days until the 20th New Zealand Masters Games gets underway in Wanganui. But more importantly… entries close in 3 days time!
Have you got your confirmation letter or email yet? Make sure you are registered and have paid your entry fees, especially if you have entered on-line but may have not hit the ‘PAY NOW’ button yet.
And check with your team mates that they have entered as well. Some of them may still be on holiday and probably won’t have their laptop with them on the beach. Be a mate and send them a text today. All you need to say is “Entries close this Friday. www.nzmg.com”

GAMES THEME

The Games theme for 2009 is the memorable era of the 1960’s. Do you remember The Beatles, Rock n Roll, Elvis, James Bond (the Sean Connery version), Apollo 13, JF Kennedy, Floral fashion, The Milk bar, Bob Dylan & Buddy Holly?
Have a rummage through your wardrobe and dig out that 60’s outfit you have been hiding all these years because you couldn’t bring yourself to throw it away. Guys open a can of Brylcream and slick up that cowlick and ladies puff up that hairdo and be at the Village to revel in the carefree, raging 60’s atmosphere.
Look out for some 60’s icons at the Village, you might even get an autograph or a photo with your 60’s idol, or if you dress up as your favourite 60’s celebrity be prepared to get mobbed by some (not so) young fans.
If you don’t have a 1960’s outfit, get down to your local costume shop and hire one. There will be prizes for the most colourful or realistic 60’s man & woman in the Village. Have a browse on the theme page of the www.nzmg.com website for some memory jogging ideas.

A THOUGHT
Need some motivation to get active in 2009. If the thought of missing out on the NZ Masters Games isn’t enough, listen to what these Guys have to say:
Whether you think you can or think you can’t – you are right! – Henry Ford (car inventor)
If you rest, you rust! – anon.
I intend to die as young as possible… as late as possible! – Allan Davies (Christchurch inventor

ACC
Take a break from the action with ACC
Do you want to win a Wii, learn the art of Tai Chi or simply relax on a sofa between events? At this year’s ACC NZ Masters Games Village you can do all these things, and more.
As part of ACC’s sponsorship of the Games, they have created the ACC Life Lounge - a relaxing haven for you to enjoy throughout the competition. With comfy sofas, free water and fruit, it’s a must visit part of the Games.
If you’re still keen for some action you can have a go on a Nintendo Wii. Aptly named ‘the console for everyone’, the Wii requires no gaming experience, and you can choose to play tennis, ten pin bowling or golf. It’s a great way to have a bit of fun and meet some new people.
If computers aren’t your thing you can also have a go at the ancient Chinese art of Tai Chi, with free lessons from one of New Zealand’s leading Tai Chi Masters. Often practiced for its health benefits, Tai Chi is also used by ACC to prevent falls and increase flexibility. The sessions will run daily at 5pm stating on Saturday 31 January and all are welcome, so encourage your friends and family to come along and give it a go
